My friend is from engineering field.We are just confuse about the language selection for web designing and programming.Please suggest me that which language should he choose??
we have two options in our mind,and they are "Java or .Net"....
Which should i select??If you have any other better option then please suggest it too.

The choice will often time be driven by the employer you work for. However, as general skills I would say that BOTH languages have very deep penetration.

As far as security testing is concerned, you have to be familiar with both for sure, they some of the most commonly use language.

I would also consider other language such as PHP, Ajax, Python.

There are many tools written in Python.
